The snowstorm over the weekend was very welcome. This has added 60cm to over 1m of fresh snow in the Northern French Alps depending on where you are
This has created amazing conditions and raised the avalanche risks to considerable. See our snow reports and the avalanche bulletin for more insight on this danger.
I just had a look forward for the next top up. It seems as though the continental high pressure that dominated the alpine weather in December and early January is back in force. At least until 27th January. This will block any snow bearing fronts from the Atlantic and ensure fine cold sunny weather for the next 10 days or more.
There is a southern storm in the Mediterranean and this could move north and create snow on Italy and a retour d’est in Val d’Isere. However at the moment this is unlikely and this storm seems set to create more vold and wet weather in Greece and Turkey.
It looks like the Pyrenees will get snow this weekend
We will update you on when the next top up is due. But in the meantime. Wrap up warm, stay safe. Have Fun and enjoy the sunshine
